Winnie owned and operated a trophy business inside Ray's Liberty Glass Company's shop for several years, until she and Ray retired in 1996. They had planned on traveling around the country helping the Lutheran faith build churches. It was a short-lived dream when Ray was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease, developed Alzheimer, and then had several strokes until he was completely bed-ridden.
