Long, officiating.

Winnie was born in Seminole, Oklahoma, on January 29, 1930. She attended Drumright schools through her junior high years but after her family moved to Tulsa OK, she graduated Tulsa Central High School in 1948. She married four months before graduation to her first husband and they raised their children in Tulsa OK. She moved to Liberty, Texas, in 1973, and lived there for 42 years. She owned and operated a trophy company in Liberty before retiring in 1996. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Liberty.

Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. A special mention to her best friend and buddy of many years, Shirley Coyle of Tulsa OK; and to Deborah Williams of Ames TX, for being her devoted, caring angel friend sent from God. She received many blessings for the friendship of: Linda Long and Sam Easton of Tulsa OK; Emelie Mamerow of Hardin TX; Barbara & Roy Croft of Dayton TX; and Iris Eure of Liberty TX; from her church friends; and acquaintances on Facebook and Pogo.

Winnie wore many hats and could do anything she set her mind to do: Nurse, caregiver, bookkeeper, electrician, plumber, carpenter, TV repairman, mechanic, worked on her own computer, yard person, traveled to England several times, and church newsletter chairman. None by trade, but believed in the scripture, Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Nursed two husbands, Joe for 3 years with heart disease and took excellent care of Ray at home for 7 years with his cancer, Alzheimer’s and a stroke. She was fortunate to find love later in life with Brian who were very happy together and planned on marrying until his unexpected death. She took her wedding vows very seriously, married twice but both were ‘til death do us part’ and ‘through sickness and in health’. She was a wonderful role model to her children and friends, many who say how compassionate she was and she had a kindred spirit.

Winnie was married for 24 years to her first husband and 31 years to her second husband. In 1973, Winnie reconnected with her school-days sweetheart and they were married the same year. She assisted her husband doing his accounting books for Liberty Glass Company until their retirement. She was active in the women’s auxiliary and worked at Ray’s side for the Liberty Elks Lodge 2019, Hoop Shoots, and the Lodge Bulletin from 1973 until 1997, due to his illness. They made many contributions to the Texas Elks Handicapped Children fund and the Elks National Foundation. She assisted him with his involvement in Trinity Valley Exposition until 1989. She received the Civic Recognition Award for acts of compassion and kindness to inspire people to help others and improve their community. She was strong in her devotion to God and an active member in her church until diagnosed with a lung breathing disorder in 2009. She loved camping, deer hunting, yard work, church, and family activities. She always made sure her children enjoyed their birthday with specialty-themed parties. In 2010, her children surprised her with an 80th birthday party. She would do anything for her children. Through the years, she made special creative birthday and anniversary cards, that she designed and printed, for family members and friends. She will be greatly missed and always remembered with her unconditional love as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandma, granmaw, nanny, great-grandma, great great-granny, aunt, and friend.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you contribute to her church (Trinity Lutheran Church, PO Box 961; Liberty TX 77575) or a charity of your choice in her memory.
